The City of Pasadena lists several links with some very useful information. For instance, what to keep in an emergency kit and how to care for your children and pets. The Fire Department recommends that all residents sign up to receive emergency notifications through "PLEAS" - Pasadena Local Emergency Alert System. In case of an emergency, alerts would be sent directly to your cell phone via text or by voice message.
In the wake of large-scale disasters throughout the world, the Pasadena Fire Department reminds all residents to be prepared for the type of disasters and emergencies that could affect Southern California.

Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program which enlists the active participation of citizens in cooperation with law enforcement in order to help reduce crime in their neighborhood. The best defense against crime is getting to know your neighbors and working together. This is essential to assist the police officers to fight crime by recognizing and reporting suspicious activity. Read these crime prevention tips.
Free services available from the police department to Orange Heights residents as part of our Neighborhood Watch include:
- A "curb side chat" with a representative of the Pasadena Police Department every three months. The representative will review what is happening with crime in Orange Heights, what sort of crime we're experiencing and how we can work together to prevent it. It's beneficial to hold these events at a different home and street within Orange Heights. If you would like to host one of the quarterly chats on your front lawn please contact Chris McDaniel, our Orange Heights police liaison.
- Free home safety surveys. A police officer will come to your home to give you tips on how you can better secure your home inside and out. Everything from lighting to plant placement. Call for a Police Specialist at 626-744-7656 to schedule your free safety survey.
- Free vacation check list. Call the non emergency police number 626-744-4241, or a Police Specialist at 626-744-7656, before you leave on vacation. The police will make sure to "cruise" your home while you're away and provide some added peace of mind while you're on vacation.
